(TARRYTOWN, N.Y., November 2021) — We are delighted to announce that Kari-Out® is a proud member of the U.S. Composting Council. We share the passion for reducing landfill and incineration of compostable waste by facilitating the shift to composting.  The vision of the U.S. Composting Council is that compost manufacturing and compost utilization are central to creating healthy soils, clean air and water, a stable climate and a sustainable society.  The mission of the U.S. Composting Council is for advanced compost manufacturing, compost utilization and organics recycling to benefits their member, society and the environment.

Compost can replenish and stabilize soil, helping to boost and sustain food production in the future. It can also help pull carbon out of the atmosphere, helping to tackle global warming, and replace polluting chemical fertilizers, protecting public health.

It is estimated that Americans landfilled or incinerated over 50 million tons of compostable waste in 2015. Composting could reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills and incinerators in the U.S. by at least 30 percent.

A growing number of cities, towns and states are recognizing the benefits of composting programs. In just the last five years, the number of communities offering composting programs has grown by 65 percent. By following the best practices of programs around the country, American communities can launch successful composting programs that reduce waste, contribute to a sustainable food system, help tackle global warming, and reduce harmful air and water pollution.

At Kari-Out® we offer a comprehensive line of paper food trays and boxes that are compostable, biodegradable and recyclable.  Our goal is to provide better packaging solutions for our customers, society and our environment.
